About Me

Hi my name is Justin and I am finishing off my Bachelors Degree in Computer Science.  I am 33 years old and I have a 2 year old named Logan.  Outside of school I have a podcast/game stream with a few of my friends I have been doing for about 4 years called The Three Episode Podcast.  I am also into combat robotics and have a 3Lb beetleweight that will be competing this weekend at NHRL.  I look forward to stretching my artistic side in the class and seeing what everyone else creates.

About Me

 Hi everyone,

My name is Nicolas Otalora, i'm 15 years old and I'm from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I have lived in Colombia since 2017.

I was interested in the course, because I dream to be an Architect or an Interior Designer, so that i joined the class in order to improve and learn more about art and design as well. This is my first time using photoshop, so i'm getting into it but without doubt it is a very good tool for what we're doing and will do.

Have a great week!

What is due this week?

 Hello Everyone,

As this is an Art class, I have found a much better platform to share images and build community.

  https://mod42022.blogspot.com/

Everything you need for the class is linked from the blog.

Things to do in the first week:

-Join the blog by clicking inside the email blogger sent you on March 18th.  Follow the link.  Please use your name as your screen name so you get the proper credit for your work.  Only invited members of the blog can post or comment on the blog.

-Watch the short video, "How to Post to the Blog" It is easy!  If you have ever posted anything on Facebook, then you will find that posting to the blog is just as easy... but you have to join first!

-Download Photoshop from Adobe.com. You can either type Adobe into your browser or follow the link on the blog.

-Post a short biography and picture on the blog... tell us a little about yourself.

-Create a folder for your work on Google Drive.  Be sure you are signed in with your Albertus login.  Name the folder 2D Design, Mod 4 2022 (your name). Double click on the folder, then right click on it to share it with me using jnevins@albertus.edu

-Do project 1, "The Dot" Create 6 variations and put 2 or 3 on the blog.  Put all 6 in your Drive folder  Name each piece proj. 1-1, proj. 1-2, etc.  Use this convention for all of your work that way as you keep adding new work, they will remain in order in your folder. Instructions are in the syllabus and a video takes you through the project step by step.

-Watch the video tours of projects 1-7 Projects 1-7and also linked form the top of the syllabus.

The class meets Synchronously on Monday nights at 5:30 pm.  I invite everyone to join us on the first night to get a good start on the class.  Use this link: Advising and class meetings  The first meeting is this Monday, March 21.

-I take attendance for the asynchronous students every Monday morning at 9 am.  All work for the week is due by then.  For by Monday night synchronous students, I will take attendance as class starts at 5:30 and again on Monday Morning.

Looking forward to working with you!

Welcome to Two Dimensional Design!  The class revolves around creating a portfolio of images using Adobe Photoshop software. You can download Photoshop at http://adobe.com… Albertus ITS needs to input your email addresses into the Adobe database so that you can have free access to it for the Mod.

When you go to adobe.com, click sign in in the upper right hand side and enter your Albertus login information.  If you are prompted to download a "trial" version, then your login information hasn't been entered yet.  If that is the case, either email Jeremy Peterson directly as he is the one responsible for entering your information or let me know and I will email him.

You do need a real computer, not a Chromebook to run this software... either a PC or a Mac.  You'll also need a decent broadband connection to be able to upload your work to the class blog. (Here)

If you don't have the necessary computer and connection, then you'll need to use any of the publicly available computers on campus That includes the Library, Rm 114 in the TAG center and 315 Aquinas Hall.

The first week will be about getting up to speed in creating your accounts and getting your software image editing program working. Join the class blog by clicking on the link in the email Blogger sent you from me.  Use your Albertus credentials to join and log in.  You only need to do this once.  Use you name as a screen name so I can give you credit for your work. There are instruction on creating an account at blogger and joining the class blog... you don't need to create your own blog... just join the class one..  Also post a short bio and photo to the class blog to introduce yourself.

We will also start small with the first project listed on the syllabus...

The Dot.

I host the syllabus on my website,http://jnevins.com.  Take a look around there to look at my teaching philosophy, syllabi, portfolios of my own work, tutorials and more...

Here is a link to the syllabus for this class:http://jnevins.com/twodimensionaldesignsyllabusonline.html

There you will find links to each project.

We have 4 students in this class... put all of your work here on the blog.

Download and install your image editing program...

Look over past student work posted on the blogs, linked from the syllabus.

I want you to have fun with this class and not get hung up on any of the technical stuff...  Once you get rolling, you'll see it is fun and very engaging...

Don't hesitate to call me at home if you are stuck! 203- six six four, one zero one four.

Looking forward to working with you this Mod!
